How to Wash Your Rug — Step by Step
1

Separate the Layers

Remove the rug cover from the cushion pad. Only the rug cover goes in the washing machine.

2

Shake & Pre-Treat

Shake out loose debris outdoors. For tough stains, dab with cold water and mild stain remover — do not rub.

3

Load the Machine

Place the rug cover alone in the drum. Use cold water, gentle cycle, and a mild liquid detergent. No bleach.

4

Air Dry (Flat or Hang)

Lay flat or hang to dry. Avoid direct sunlight or high heat. Do not put in a dryer — air dry only.

5

Replace & Enjoy

Once fully dry, lay the rug cover back over the cushion pad. Smooth out edges and it's ready to use again.

Pro Washing Tips

  • Cold water only — hot water can cause colors to bleed and fibers to shrink.
  • Gentle / delicate cycle — protects the weave structure and printed pattern.
  • Liquid detergent — powder detergent can leave residue in the fibers. Use a small amount.
  • Wash alone — don't mix with clothes or towels; the rug cover needs space to tumble freely.
  • How often? Every 1–3 months for general use; more frequently for high-traffic areas or pet households.
Washing Machine Compatibility

Check your washing machine's drum size before washing. Larger rugs need a large-capacity front-load washer for best results.

Small 2.0–2.5 Cu. Ft.
Medium 3.0–4.0 Cu. Ft.
Large 4.5+ Cu. Ft.

Wash Care — Do's & Don'ts

Do

  • Use cold water and gentle / delicate cycle
  • Use a mild, color-safe liquid detergent
  • Wash the rug cover alone
  • Air dry flat or hang dry in shade
  • Spot clean with cold water for minor spills — act fast
  • Vacuum regularly to reduce deep washes
  • Turn inside-out for darker colors to preserve vibrancy

Don't

  • Do not use hot water or warm wash
  • Do not use bleach or fabric softener
  • Do not tumble dry — high heat damages fibers
  • Do not dry clean
  • Do not wash with clothes or towels
  • Do not iron or steam the printed surface
  • Do not wring or twist the rug cover when wet
Common Questions

How often should I wash my rug?

  • Light use (bedroom, office): every 2–3 months is fine.
  • High traffic or pets/kids: monthly or as needed after spills.
  • In between washes, vacuum weekly with a low-suction setting.

Will the print fade after washing?

  • No — our rugs use commercial-grade sublimation printing that bonds the dye to the fiber at a molecular level.
  • Patterns stay vibrant for 100+ washes when you follow cold water / gentle cycle care.

My washing machine is too small for a 6×9. What can I do?

  • Take it to a laundromat — they typically have large-capacity front-load machines (4.5+ Cu. Ft.) perfect for bigger rugs.
  • Or spot clean the cover in place with a damp cloth and mild soap for routine maintenance.
